Born in 1976, Malchand completed his Bachelor in Fine Arts in 1998 and Masters in Fine Arts in 2009, both from the Rajasthan School of Art.
In his own words, “I am an artist, with vernacular upbringing. While acquiring a sense of world-view only to an extent that a small city such as Bikaner could impart; it still is secluded and holds its distinct indigenous zest. I had to leave for bigger city and it was Jaipur—the capital of Rajasthan, decently equipped with colleges meant for appropriate higher education. Within the ashing of times, I had completed graduation and post-graduation from Rajasthan School of Art by the year 2009. There was so much to learn within that span of time. Since then, I have been practising as an artist to dwell deeper meanings of the visual world.”
“My works are the voice of the common man, of his dreams, aspirations, and desperations and also of his disappointments, of the unfilled dreams. The common man appears in different forms in these creations: One's always kept busy in accumulating things of his everyday utility; searching for peace of mind, smiling, peeping into surreal future: with material objects. This quest stays central as central themes in most common stories yet indigenously distinct the way an artist experiences and interprets.”
Malchand has conducted many solo shows: “Thread’s Of Life” in Jawahar Kala Kendra, Jaipur, 2008; “Concrete Jungle” in Jwahar Kala Kendra, Jaipur. 2012, “The Stamp Of Life” in Samanvai Art Gallery, Jaipur, 2013. He has participated in groups shows like: “Real Digital Graphic art Exhibition”, Bikaner, 2006; “One square foot show” in “Ahmadabad ni gufa” at Ahmadabad, 2010; “India International Art Fair” in Pragati Maidan, at Delhi, 2010.
He has received the prestigious State Award in 52th “Annual Art Exhibition” by Rajasthan Lalit Kala Academy, Jaipur, 2011
