Jayakumar

Jayakumar, born in 1970 in Kerala, is a distinguished contemporary Indian artist known for his dynamic fusion of figurative and abstract forms. His work draws deeply from Indian spiritual traditions, mythology, and the cyclical nature of life, offering a visual meditation on existence, transformation, and the human connection with nature. Through fluid lines, textured surfaces, and symbolic elements, Jayakumar explores the interplay between the tangible and intangible, often blurring the boundaries between reality and imagination. His color palette is rich and evocative, bringing emotional depth and movement to his compositions.

Over the years, he has presented several solo exhibitions, including Visions of Silence at Gallery Veda, New Delhi (2019), Confluence of Realms at Art Alive Gallery, Chennai (2016), and Eternal Forms at Jehangir Art Gallery, Mumbai (2014). His involvement in esteemed group exhibitions such as the India Art Fair, showcases by the Lalit Kala Akademi, and the International Art Biennale has firmly established his presence on both national and international stages.

Jayakumar’s work is housed in prominent collections across India, Europe, and the United States. In recognition of his artistic excellence, he has received notable accolades including the National Award from Lalit Kala Akademi and the Kerala State Award. Now based in Kerala, he continues to evolve his artistic practice, experimenting with materials and forms to create artworks that resonate with spiritual depth and cultural richness.
