Soumen Khamrui is a contemporary Indian artist whose work delicately bridges the realms of memory, emotion, and the rural experience. Born and brought up in West Bengal, Soumen’s deep-rooted connection to village life forms the foundation of his artistic narrative. He completed his Bachelor of Fine Arts from the Government College of Art & Craft, Kolkata, where he cultivated his skills and developed a distinct visual language.

Soumen’s practice is marked by the use of earthy tones, layered textures, and a sensitive blend of realism and abstraction. His art explores personal and collective memory, with recurring motifs that highlight the deep-rooted bond between human life and the natural world. Motifs like trees, birds, rivers, and village landscapes recur throughout his compositions, not just as decorative elements, but as carriers of memory and symbols of the cyclical rhythms of life.

Drawing from the simplicity and serenity of rural Bengal, Soumen’s art is both personal and universal. Soumen has received several recognitions, including awards from the West Bengal State Academy of Fine Arts and acknowledgments at national-level art camps. His works are held in both public and private collections throughout India.
