Monika, born in 1977 in Pali, Rajasthan, is a contemporary Indian artist celebrated for her richly textured and visually striking artworks. She completed her Master’s degree in Drawing and Painting from Rajasthan University, Jaipur. Monika’s artistic expression is rooted in abstraction, characterized by the use of vibrant acrylic colours layered with intricate detailing and high-relief textures. Her compositions often evoke a sense of harmony and calm, inviting viewers into a meditative visual space shaped by depth, color, and form.
Over the years, Monika has participated in several notable exhibitions both in India and abroad. She has exhibited internationally at the Foreign Artists Exhibition in Japan (1999, 2000), as well as the inaugural International Art Exhibition organized by the Academy of International Arts in Japan (2000). Domestically, she has remained active in significant art events such as the Female Art Campus in Pushkar (2022), reflecting her ongoing engagement with evolving creative platforms. Her significant contributions to contemporary art have earned her several esteemed accolades and honours.
These include the 63rd Annual State Award for Sculpture (2022) and the Kala Charcha Award (2022), both from the Lalit Kala Akademi, Rajasthan; the Prasad Memorial Trust Award (2019) at Kala Mela, Jaipur; and the distinguished Amrita Sher-Gill Award (2018), also in Jaipur. Through her vibrant and thoughtfully constructed works, Monika continues to make a significant mark on the Indian contemporary art scene.
